Over the past few weeks we have been visiting our local Fire Station to learn all about how they look after us and keep us safe. We earned how to use the hoses and put them away. The fire crew also showed us all the different parts of the fire engine.
After going to souptastic last week we decided to make our own soup using the pumpkins for snack.
We have been looking at fireworks this week and how to keep safe when watching them. The local fire crew came to visit to explain how to be keep safe using sparklers when we are 5 years old. We have also tried different science experiments to make our own safe fireworks.
Week 2 of Outdoor Learning had us exploring the resource bags to look for wildlife and signs of Autumn. We saw some very noisy birds flying around us.
We took part in the Eyemouth Primary School Souptastic event at the local community centre. We enjoyed demonstrating our chopping skills to the volunteers, who were very impressed, and also tasting the delicious soup we all made.
Over the last few weeks we have been working with different technology in our learning. We have the smart board, Cubetto for coding and our EROL and Beebots for movement and directions.
Using our explorer bags and equipment we were ready for outdoor learning. We went on the hunt for rabbits and saved a worm from being a birds dinner.
Outside we used powder paint to colour mix. It was messy but great fun making different colours and shades.
In ELC we have been looking at pumpkins this week, both the outside and inside of the pumpkins. We drew some still life pictures and cut open the pumpkins to reveal what's inside.
We have been exploring all the chestnuts we have collected over the holidays . We used the mini hammers to break the hard shells and the chestnuts to see what was inside.
We did a litter pick in the school grounds as part of beach clean week to stop our litter blowing out to sea.
This week we baked cookies and birthday cake for our snack time. We enjoyed using the baking equipment to make our snacks .
